JULY

Historic replica ships "Grand Turk" (featured on Hornblower) and John Cabot's medieval caravel "The Matthew" visited Holyhead

Armed police patrol the ferry terminal following terrorist incidents in London and Glasgow

The Grand Princess cruise ship visited, carrying some 2,650 passengers

A French Market visited, coinciding with a visit by the Ocean Majesty cruise ship

Holyhead celebrated Thomas Telford's 250th birthday with events in the town centre

A combined Holyhead Leisure, Maritime, and Heritage Festival was held

The Holyhead Forward Board considered initial concepts and ideas for improving the Waterfront area

AUGUST

The Boundary Commission recommends extending the boundaries of the town to include Penrhos, Anglesey Aluminium, and Parc Cybi.

SEPTEMBER

 Visit of the cruise ship Century, together with a further visit by the French Market

 Opening of the new £2M 54 bed Travelodge Hotel at Kingsland Road, creating 15 new jobs

 A Welsh Language awareness week was held

 The public were invited to see the archaeological dig at Parc Cybi

OCTOBER

The annual Oyster & Welsh Produce Festival in Trearddur Bay was the best yet

The Holyhead Forward Board agreed an update to the Holyhead Forward Regeneration Strategy for the period 2008-2013

A joint venture was announced between Stena and the Conygar Investment Company to develop surplus non-operational land around the harbour.

NOVEMBER

The London Road Community Centre celebrated its first year of operation, creating 9 jobs - see www.holyheadcentre.com

Stena announced that the Seatrader freight ferry would be receiving a £5M upgrade

The "Landmark Wales" project for ten major artwork features around Wales failed to reach the final round of the UK "Living Landmarks" competition

DECEMBER

Annual Christmas festivities included a Christmas Tree Festival and Living Nativity Parade.
