Welsh Assembly Government Plans and Strategies

There are many Wales-wide plans, strategies, and policies which can have an influence on the regeneration and development of Holyhead. Further information about these and the Welsh Assembly in general can be viewed on their website www.wales.gov.uk

National Economic Development Strategy (NEDS)

This strategy sets out the Welsh Assembly Government's policies and proposals for economic development, many of which are relevant to Holyhead.

Wales - A Vibrant Economy (WAVE)

A new draft economic development strategy for Wales has been subject to public consultation until February 2006. The chair of the Holyhead Forward Board has submitted written comments to the Welsh Assembly Government welcoming the document and requesting some specific additions and amendments.

Wales Spatial Plan

This document is intended to be a strategic spatial development plan for Wales. It specifically identifies Holyhead as a focal centre and emphasises the importance of its role as a gateway between the UK and Ireland.

Communities First

This is the Welsh Assembly Government's programme for community regeneration in areas of most need. This currently includes much of Holyhead - see under Projects.

Wales Transport Plan

Holyhead features in the Welsh Assembly's transport plan as a critical transport node.
